Why do more than 6 million people use RockeTalk??

RockeTalk is not just about sending Free MMS or sharing voice msgs with friends on mobile/e-mail for free. It is another platform for all social networking enthusiasts; a platform that exists in one of the smallest devices you could imagine – the mobile phones.
Be it connecting with friends/family or simply socializing and growing your network; RockeTalk is used in various forms.

Here is what i got to know after using RockeTalk and talking to some of the regular addicts ;)

1. Live Broadcasting: User’s often use RockeTalk as a way of broadcasting an event. To share their world and talent with others who can’t be there with them. People, who speak, understand or are trying to learn Urdu or Hindi poetry, get together every day for a continuous Mushaira- 24x7x365 days. And one such user who stands out among the rest is Md. Shafeeq Khan from Muradabad, who aspired to become a TV show host, but could not due to financial setbacks. He now owns and manages a community called ‘mehfil on a mobile networking platform called RockeTalk, wherein his shayaris are intensely attended to and applauded by thousands of users. Not only that, he also does Live telecasting of Mushaira’s  being hosted in various parts of India like Ludhiana, Lucknow, Delhi, Chandigarh, Banaras to name a few. In a general fashion of events, the date and timing of the telecast is announced in his community ‘Mehfil’ and among other friends on RockeTalk, a couple of days in advance and Live videos are posted from the venue into the community by merely logging in to RockeTalk.

What is unique about these live programs is the ability of the remote listeners to be part of the event and participate by listening as well as giving their comments, critique, asking questions right away.  For those of his friends who are not on RockeTalk, videos and msgs are sent on mobile numbers and emails using the MMS feature.

Name: Md. Shafeeq Khan
City: Moradabad

2. RockeTalk: Hearing impaired people's communicator:  An NGO based in Baroda has also effectively exploited the services of RockeTalk. The NGO helped children who were sound and sight impaired to make friends by dispatching video messages in sign language. 32-year-old Rajesh Ketkar from Mook Badhir Mandal (MBM) chanced upon RockeTalk. While dabbling with the application, Ketkar had solution to problems faced by hearing impaired people. The application 'RockeTalk' enables users to send video messages that make communication a cakewalk, at least for deaf people.
When two hearing impaired people communicate, facial expressions play an important role. With video messaging, talking to one another is easy despite being at different places. They also send their video message to an interpreter who in turn would talk to a normal person on their behalf over the phone itself! MBM has already prepared two short films demonstrating usage of this application and uploaded it on various other social networking sites and viewers are surprised that a application could be utilized in this form as well.

Name: Rajesh Ketkar
City: Baroda

3. Best Shopping Companion-Next best thing to being there: The “click-shoot & send” pictures/videos feature is not just limited to sharing pictures of pets or party. It can also be a girls next best shopping companion or so proved one such user, Meghna from Delhi. Meghna comes across as a typical Delhi girl who loves shopping and happens to be a Textile Designer. Needless to say her fav ‘sport’ is shopping! Her job demands her to visit markets around the city, for fabrics and other accessories and purchase merchandise or take pictures for approvals.
Through RockeTalk she found a cost effective way of doing the same! She now saunters through markets and takes pictures/videos of sample to be bought and emails it to Buyers for ‘instant’ approvals! Not only does she save on money but also on time (she earlier clicked pictures using a digital camera for higher quality, then transferred them to a laptop and attached images on an email!!)
She also uses RockeTalk for getting opinion of her friends who are as far away as Pune & Bangalore about her shopping or even the new hair style!! What’s more she’s managed to build a fan following for herself inside RockeTalk, as she belts out fashion tips to other users (men and women) for free! RockeTalk has their very first mobile fashion guru :)

Name: Meghna
City: Delhi

4. Citizen Journalism: Users use RockeTalk to make the world aware of what’s going on around them. They report everything from extraordinary things they see to daily news of their lives and that of others. Having RockeTalk on the phone actually turns everyone in to a reporter. People report local and very relevant news about things happening around them- like the flood waters rising, accidents, traffic reports, celebrity spotting etc. While browsing through the RockeTalk UGC content, one can find that there are multiple videos posted about the unrest in Kashmir and Pakistan as well.

Suhail from J&K is one such user. Currently studying in Pune, he hails from J&K and is very passionate about global journalism. He not only shares news from his side of the city but also encourages other users to do the same. What’s s more, he loves being the “weather man” and reports the ‘mausam ka haal’ every morning, and persuades his friends from other cities/countries to do the same.

Shaikh Jawad Ahamd, more popularly known as ‘Eyeman’ is a Jewelry manufacturer by profession and hails from Karachi. He is another regular user who gets the pulse racing of other user’s by reporting incidents from Pakistan. He’s even shared videos after the unfortunate incident of Karachi bombing in 2009.

Aradhna Seth is a freelance copy writer living in Mumbai. She is still trying to adjust to the city’s packed traffic and hates traveling for work! She found an easy and effective method of delivering her papers using RockeTalk and since been using it for sending direct postings to the news media.

5. Cost effective Talent Showcase: RockeTalk users are spread across India, with higher concentrations in North, South and West.  Users sing their hearts out and post to the gallery so that the world can listen. The communities are full of shayari and Bollywood music. RockeTalk is a platform for budding singers/Bands who find it difficult to promote their talent in the competitive environment. Ofcrs there are bathroom singer too!

Rao Irfan from Pakistan, popularly known as Rao Fani is one such singer! This Pathan loves Bollywood music and tried participating in various competitions. Though he never felt quite confident singing in front of an audience, he is completely at ease when it comes to singing on RockeTalk! Over the last 1 year he has managed to create a fan following for himself from various parts of India and Pakistan!! He sings in Hindi & Urdu… His magical voice coupled with shayri is known to have kept users engaged for hours at a stretch in communities. Voice clippings posted by Rao in the RockeTalk media gallery usually have thousands of views and mostly is among the top rated media!

Another such user is Misbha Qazi from Nagpur. All of 22, this young man dreams of being part of a Rock Band! He and his friends have a small band in Pune and he religiously travels from Nagpur to Pune every weekend for brand practice. Misbah is also a social networking fanatic and came across RockeTalk on one such leading app store. Their Band released their first song not on any funky CD but in their very own RockeTalk Community with no cost of marketing and yet having a reach of lacs of users through the community. This band is just 6 months old but already topping the RockeTalk charts!

6. CarTalk with Karan: Don't know which car is the best? Which car would fit your budget? The stylish Bike you just bought is giving you trouble? What to do? Karan...our expert on Cars/ Bikes has the answers to all your queries…he belts out the best and the wackiest of trouble shooting ideas in Radio RockeTalk..one of the buzzing communities.
Don’t be mistaken, Karan is not a professional MJ (mobile Jockey). He is your regular business man from Hissar who deals in cars and bikes. Like any other 28 year old, automobiles are his passion! He was introduced to RockeTalk by one of his friends and while he made new friends from across the globe, he shared his understanding of cars and bikes in communities and thus started a new trend where in users formed small groups at various intervals of the day to get advice from Karan related to cars and bikes to their maintenance and even best on road prices!!

Karan also gave the users a taste of the Auto Expo 2009 held in Delhi, where he did the rounds of the stalls along with his fellow companion and very old RockeTalk user 'Sin' and shared live videos of the amazing auto expo with users. So a fellow RockeTalker from Patna could get a peek into the auto expo in Delhi right on his mobile absolutely free!!

Name: Karan Pahwa
City: Hissar

7. Travel Blog: From photos of trips to amazing sounds heard on their travels, RockeTalkers upload everything. They reach out and tell the world where they have been in many ways. From the foothills of the Himalayas to the backwaters of Kerala, to the slums of Calcutta, to the ashrams, to the beaches of Goa....media posted in Gallery and shared in communities will fascinate, shock and excite!

User’s share their experience via videos/picture + text ‘blogs’ and even suggest the best places to visit to other RockeTalker’s. Shambhu Kumar, from Kanpur, currently working in Delhi loves to travel and has immense knowledge of the holy places in India. He travels and often creates micro audio blogs for user’s to know where he’s been and share his experience. He’s known to have captured the famous arti of the ghats of Banaras live for users. Since he is not very tech savy, RockeTalk comes to his rescue when it comes to sharing his pictures and videos with friends outside his RockeTalk circle (his phone book contacts). It takes him just a click to copy all his phone book contacts and share with them the same pics and audio blogs.

Name: Shambhu Kumar
City: Kanpur (currently Delhi)

8. Mobile Fan Club for Celebrities created on RockeTalk: Mohneesh Ghelot, more popularly known as DJMax on RockeTalk is an ardent Salman Khan fan. He hails from Jodhpur and runs a Salman Khan fan club in his city as well as RockeTalk! He claims to have met the Bollywood actor and been on some of the film sets too. Like any other fan he wanted his fan club to grow but had no means to advertise in newspapers/magazines and that’s when RockeTalk’s broadcasting tool came in handy for this user.

He broadcast's in communities about his fan club in the city, and found many from his own city on RockeTalk! Users from adjoining city also showed interest in joining the club of their fav star. Djmax uses the advantages of social media to leverage his club and add more people to it not just virtually but in person! Not an email savvy user, Mohneesh regularly send voice updates to all fan club members on RockeTalk of upcoming movies and spicy gossip and news about their fav star, making it a well connected club! Goes on to prove that
RockeTalk is a complete media, entertainment and social networking application!

Name: Mohneesh Ghelot (Djmax)
City: Jodhpur

9. Movie Meter: Who ever said movie review could only be written by Film critics has never been to RockeTalk! An example to explain the movie madness on RockeTalk was when users kick started this year with discussing the much hyped 3 Idiots! Every Friday evening and sometimes at other times between 9:30pm and till whenever it ends (usually 3 hrs or so) user hold fun ‘events’ like a radio talk-show – but different. There are hosts or RJs who introduce the topics and then everyone participates in the discussion. For Friday’s however the topic is set: the latest movie released! Most of our users are of the age group 18 to 34, who are regular movie goers and watch the first day first show and by Friday evening the communities are buzzing with reviews of movies!

Some users have been known to particularly wait for the reviews by other fans on RockeTalk before spending that 100 Rs. Note on the ticket. Users trust other user opinion more worthy than a review published by any other news paper or TV channel.

(RockeTalk Community)

This is just SOME of the stuff that i got from the ardent fans of this buzzing mobile application. Sure keeps me entertained and that's reason enough for me to be using the app day after day..and await for more :)

Facebook spams it's users to promote new but useless features!!

“Facebook is a place for connecting with friends, family and other people you know personally.
You’ve been prevented from adding friends on Face book. This may be because you’ve sent friend requests to strangers, or it may be due to other behavior that Face book members have reported as unwelcome.
You’ll be allowed to add friends again soon. At that time, please remember to only send friend requests and messages to people who you already know personally. Otherwise, additional limits may be placed on your account.”

A 60 year old woman from Mumbai loves to write and make new friends. For this reason itself she joins Face book…so that she could connect with like minded people across the world and share her stories/blogs with people without having to physically publish them!

But what does FB do? After the poor lady sends out friends requests...FB blocks her account and sends her the above posted warning! Darn FB coz they are warning her for sending out spam but will someone tell me wtf FB does to promote their new features?? Don’t they spam their users??

I recently saw a friends feed “Chk out the my revolving photo’s on Face Book…click on the link to see your albums revolve”…now if that isn’t interesting then what is?? So..’’click’’ and then what?? Well, the next thing I know, the same link got posted to my entire friends (133 friends) wall as a “msg” from me!! And not only that but since then (4 days now) everyday twice a day somehow that link shows up on my profile as a status msg…even thou I’ve not posted it!!

Freaking shit!! If that isn’t spam then what is?? Here I am working my a** off and have no clue what’s going on FB but thanks to this darn link showing up at inappropriate time…my bosses (yeah they are on my list too!!) think that I’m wasting my time on face book than working!! I don’t care what other think…but hell…my FB account is MINE…and I choose to post things on it…FB has no freaking right to just post a link without my permission…(and NO don’t leave silly comments by saying go to permissions page and disable…already tried n tested!!)

Good that Face book has such high privacy settings that unknown people can’t bug you with msgs and spam...but who do we go to in case Face book itself is spamming us??!!
